This 100 Layer Lasagna is a Masterpiece!

Imagine a 100 layer lasagna piled high on a plate before you. Painstakingly put together by 3 cooking cooking stations and only provided to the few select that are willing and able to partake in a five hundred dollar tasting menu. That's what the deal is at Del Posto's restaurant in New York City. A restaurant owned by my two favorite Italian Chefs that truly know how to do it right, authentic and real Italian.

Joe Bastanovich and Mario Batali.
Love you guys!

But they aren't the composers of this elegant tantalizing, towering, treat. Mark Ladner the Executive Chef is the culprit behind this feat. Or should I say feet..

This culinary masterpiece, and I mean Masterpiece should go down in the history books for all time difficult lasagna recipes. It has 50 layers of homemade pasta, thinly rolled pasta sheets. Then in between those delicate sheets of pasta you have alternating marinara sauce, bachamela sauce and bolognese sauce to create an 80 portion pan of pasta. The lasagna goes into the oven every day at 1:30 PM and after cooking for over an hour is sits to cool for dinners rush. Carefully and methodically it must be served with a special spatula and each portion is held together with a skewer to prevent the pile of pasta from collapsing or falling over and if you are fortunate to have the opportunity to sample this succulent stack the Chef himself will come out and serve it to you. All six foot four of him towering just as high as the stack of pasta before you.

Folks, do not try this at home!

But if you ever find yourself in the heart of New York city and want to try something really extraordinary then make sure to stop by Del Posto's restaurant for some 100 layer Lasagna.
